OP a 4 year old PowerPoint? Do not bring it up. Old stuff. What have you brought the last 90 days?

OP here-- thanks so much for your inputs. I kept it positive. No real pitches because I really wasnt sure what I could pitch. I thought it went generally well. SVP said she would set me up with chat's with two other VP's in her line.

In that way, I thought it would be a win win for everybody. II is the part that is difficult given current funding climate.

I was told by my current VP in front of our bigger team (not just mine) that I am clueless about our business, bring no value, hopelessly tactical, not ready, would never have gotten the job if I wasnt an internal transfer(this last one was said as a joke, but it really stung). It's hard to explain the hostility. I agree I am not a perfect fit for the role but I also bring value, and probably could bring more value in a team that is welcoming of me. I covered maternity leaves even in business areas I had no prior knowledge of! I want to focus forward of course, and I dont expect the SVP to immediately plug and play me somewhere (although that is my hope!).

That is uncalled for, even if you were not adding value in his/her opinion, shouldn’t bring this in front of a team. Is this VP new to the company? Is it at a GSE? Complain to HR/ethics, they will put them in their place

Do NOT go to HR. They will not do anything in this case

Didn't you see that she is a Power Point Wizard?! And she did a good presentation four years ago?!

A few thoughts.

1) If you're a senior director, some of the PPs are right - you need to make this about what you bring to the table for the SVP, not about "hey, can you save me from this bad situation?" You're senior enough and, presumably, expensive enough that the ability/willingness to move you is going to be a meaningful business decision.

2) While you need to appeal primarily to the business advantages of moving you, you can also allude to the impetus for the discussion. Something like "well, once the dust settled on the reorg it became apparent that VP and I have different styles and expectations for my role, but I love Acme Corp and have crushed it here for a decade, so I'm looking internally for a role where my skills are more valued." Don't talk about meanness or style directly, but the SVP will likely read between the lines regardless.

3) Your current VP sucks.

Good luck!
