My work tote is from Patricia Nash and is in the OP's price range. I have several different pieces and they have all held up really well. That said, I bought mine 5 + years ago so I can't comment on the current product quality.

Some of the products have colors or patterns that might be too personal to buy for someone else but there are solid neutrals also.

I'd rather have $200 in cash. Picking out a $200 purse for someone is straight up weird. I could see if you were gifting something like a Hermès Kelly, or (not my style but popular) LV Neverfull GM, or even a Chanel 11.12, but a $200 bag is weird. Just do cash.

I agree that people have very specific needs and tastes when it comes to bags. Given your price range, it probably doesn’t make sense to take her shopping, as has been suggested. This is an option that’s flexible and within your price range, with a year long return policy.
