Sorry, but the data in this presentation is crap.

It has no value being lumped all in one general number, from Kinder through 12th grade.

At a minimum, the data should have been separated between elementary, middle school and high school.

Almost all of the high school transfers are due to people escaping bad schools using the AP/IB loophole.

That would be the number one transfer reason at high schools, followed by foreign language transfers.

Putting the 3 levels all together completely hides the biggest elephant in the room, which is the failure of IB.

People are unhappy about elementary schools getting rezoned, but REALLY furious about high schools getting rezoned.

The high school data needs to be isolated in order to provide any value whatsoever

I wonder why they think it's notable that Region 5 has a lot of kids transferring outside the region when they stuck Marshall in Region 5 along with Chantilly, Fairfax, Westfield, and Woodson.

Precisely this. They were told many months ago that transfers should have considered before floating any boundary change proposals, and they still went ahead and did things in a completely ass-backwards manner.

Ha! They established a new pre-k classroom at Keene mill last year for example, taking up a classroom etc and now they are lamenting that it is over capacity….. so why did you take up another space last year?

I mean they do limit transfers…. Lotteries, open spaces etc, but they STILL are doing things like the above.

Maybe they will get a clue with this one?
