Our team is only doing four local tournaments, same as last year. How is the "team fee" exactly the same across many different teams ($550) if some teams are doing different tournaments and some where coaches travel, and some are all local--and there is not the exact same number of players per team?
It feels like a money grab by Herndon.
In the world of travel soccer, it’s almost always the case that lower teams subsidize higher teams. When DS was young and on a B team (a very strong one) we paid the same as the A team but they got extra practice and the shared coach always prioritized the A team games leaving us with a sub many times. Later at a different club my son played B but guested with A for most games and tournaments. I could see firsthand that the B team was registered for less expensive tournaments again for the same fees (but we personally got a deal since he was playing both for one fee). In later years when my son played for the A team, I also was aware that we were traveling more, while B and C families paid the same This experience was across multiple clubs. It would be much more fair to figure out total fees for a team and divide them across the number of rostered players (allowing for the fact that clubs need to add a little something on top for the unexpected). I can understand there’s an argument made for simplifying the process but it is unfair, especially to families stretching to afford it.
