If Villarreal is hosting it, why are all the fields in Herndon and Chantilly?

Apparently not at Herndon as our coach was as surprised as we were that we were doing this ratchedy thing.

+100.

Our team has nothing but practices in playmetrics. No scrimmage, games or tournaments. No message from the
coach. No team manager. No schedule for fall even though other RL teams have been sent the basic schedule of dates and clubs. No info in the chat. Literally no info.

There is an expectation that the tournaments chosen will be to the personal benefit of the player, not financially benefit the club or club admin.

It's a local tournament count yourself lucky you don't have to travel several hours and pay crazy stay to play hotel fees to play the same level of teams.

There are many well run local tournaments with good competition here in August. No need to travel or start a new crappy moneygrab tournament.

But...your kid could be invited to pay to play in Spain for a mere $1950!
(Coaches travel for free? Hmmm very interesting. Is the club admin pushing this also a coach???)

For those of you saying "money grab," does it matter to you whether Herndon is a 501(c)3 non-profit? Or that they run rec leagues and such?

Are you expecting tournament hosts to NOT make money? Or is it you feel like there's not quality for the money? Is Copa Rayados, for instance, OK because it attracts higher level teams? It seems to me tournaments are a good way for the non-profit clubs to earn money for programming. And they're fun events no matter the level.

Our team is only doing four local tournaments, same as last year. How is the "team fee" exactly the same across many different teams ($550) if some teams are doing different tournaments and some where coaches travel, and some are all local--and there is not the exact same number of players per team?

It feels like a money grab by Herndon.

💯 Indeed a money grab.

Agree, and if the team roster is more than 17/18 it should be even lower.

In the world of travel soccer, it’s almost always the case that lower teams subsidize higher teams. When DS was young and on a B team (a very strong one) we paid the same as the A team but they got extra practice and the shared coach always prioritized the A team games leaving us with a sub many times. Later at a different club my son played B but guested with A for most games and tournaments. I could see firsthand that the B team was registered for less expensive tournaments again for the same fees (but we personally got a deal since he was playing both for one fee). In later years when my son played for the A team, I also was aware that we were traveling more, while B and C families paid the same This experience was across multiple clubs. It would be much more fair to figure out total fees for a team and divide them across the number of rostered players (allowing for the fact that clubs need to add a little something on top for the unexpected). I can understand there’s an argument made for simplifying the process but it is unfair, especially to families stretching to afford it.
