This one ticks a lot of boxes for middle-class families: decent number of bedrooms, big lot, great school district. Needs some updates, but certainly appears liveable from the pics.
This similar home in the same zip code sold last month for $1.265M, so I don't think the asking price is insane: https://www.zillow.com/homedetails/5114-14th-St-N-Arlington-VA-22205/12068222_zpid/
Not everyone can afford to live in a $3 million white box.

Nicely sized/laid out for the type of entertaining we do; turn the two BRs on the first floor into the primary BR with an attached bath so that DH and I can live on one floor as we age; upstairs BRs for my sewing room/office and visiting out-of-state child; move my recent college grad to the basement and then later rent it out for income; big sunny yard for my vegetable garden; nice walkable neighborhood.
Yeah, the kitchen and that brown bath are meh and at that price we wouldn't do big renovations (beyond the first floor primary BR plan), but both appear perfectly serviceable.

This will definitely appeal to families with multiple kids/need for office space. It could use upgrades, but isn’t horrible as is by any means. I was expecting much worse.
