Shorter hair is seen as more lesbian thing or older woman thing.

Styles come and go. At some point, long hair will read as old lady and short stylish hair will read as youthful and fashionable.

In the past I've had bobs, but the require trims every 3 or 4 months, and I've had pixies that should really be maintained every 6 weeks. It used to be possible to do this fairly affordable, but it's not anymore. So now I weart hair shoulder length and get it cut twice a year. It probably does start to look a bit straggly in between cuts, but when I can't get out of the salon for less than $130 for even a minor trim, that's how it is. I refuse to spend 1-3k annually on my hair.

you can find a decent hairdresser for way less than 130.

It's very hard in DC. Especially for short cuts on textured hair. If you live somewhere with LCOL and/or have easy-to-cut hair, it might be straightforward to find someone who can do *good* trims on a short cut for $80 or something.

And to echo the poster who said "decent" is not the bar -- finding "decent" stylists is precisely I stick with mid length cuts that are pretty simple. A decent stylists can consistently cut my fine, wavy hair to shoulder length with good shape. Asking that stylist to do something more technical will not work out for either of us. Short cuts are harder for most hair. Unless you're getting a buzz cut or have stick straight hair, you need to keep it longer to guarantee your hair doesn't get butchered.

Scraggly hair in general looks bad. Some people have scraggly short hair and it looks bad too.

True but you don’t see that very often on women.

DP. Some of you have tried many places and have difficult to cut/style hair. Plus, “decent” is not bar here.

That being said, I can’t wait for the extensions and fake uncombed hair look of maga to disappear! Yuck.

Picture of this uncombed hair look?

I had short hair in the 80s as a teen, and I’m never going back. I wear mine up most of the time, and I don’t want to have to be forced to style thick hair that’s not long enough to pull back.

I look like a baby with short hair. Plus, it’s more difficult to style.

I look terrible with hair above my shoulders or pulled backed. My stylist agrees since she has seen me with all lengths.

Not so much on Instagram or in Trump's version of DC politics and plastic surgery..

How short? And where do you live?
