I think it's good news. That second writing prompt last year was ridiculous.

As many have said, with AI and counselors/parents helping, the essays shouldn't be big decision makers IMO.

This part links to 2022 essay questions, so sounds like the connection and background essays were written by a "committee.”

I'll miss the old short answers on the UVA part of the app. Dean Schlachter and I collaborated on creating many of the prompts from the back in the day and enjoyed the process of writing and tweaking those every year. That being said, UVA applicants have always given us wonderful Common App essays and we'll be eager to see your responses to those prompts this year.

With AI, I see a future where no essays will be required.

There's a prompt for nursing, but not for the other programs.

Wow, this is a huge change! I wonder why they did this? Too much to read? Politics?

No supplements anymore would be crazy. Agree their numbers would go through the roof. Dean J said they were coming?

You aren't watching the lives. Admissions doesn't get to write the questions anymore. There's some committee doing it. Probably SCOTUS related.

Did you not get the memo? Dean J and her dog are omnipotent.

From the Commonapp UVA application right now:

At first glance, this seems like what’s happening, but if that’s the case why isn’t there a “coming soon” like other schools? UVA literally has that they aren’t required on the common app section and nothing on their admissions site.
