From our HS today —
Cell Phone Policy
Beginning this school year, students will not be permitted to use cell phones or accessories—including headphones—during the school day, except in designated areas. Below is an overview of the policy and what to expect:
Student Expectations:
Phones and accessories must be stored away from the first bell at 8:10 AM until the final bell at 2:55 PM.
Devices may not be accessed during class or passing periods, including in hallways, restrooms, locker rooms, or the library.
Devices may only be used during lunch and only in the cafeteria, our designated phone-use area.
Policy Enforcement:
If a student is found using a phone during the school day outside of approved times/locations, it will be confiscated by an administrator or security staff.
Confiscated phones will be returned to the student at the end of the school day.
Parents/guardians will be notified of each violation.
After the second and third violations, detentions are assigned.
Beginning with the fourth violation and any thereafter, students will receive a 20-day cell phone ban along with three days of detention.
Additional sanctions may be given based on the Student Rights & Responsibilities (SR&R) and FCPS Regulation 2601.39.
We understand this is a significant change, and we appreciate your partnership in supporting students as they adjust to the new expectations. Together, we can create a learning environment that minimizes distractions and promotes student success.

They had the same rule last year. Nothing has changed except now they can’t use it during passing periods which I think is dumb. It won’t be able to be enforced. Kids can go to the bathroom and check their phone in there. I don’t see why they can’t use it during passing periods. Teachers do.
