Exactly. I’ve heard of admissions officers calling students to let them know they are off the waitlist. But that is done during the day from the school.


I’m the PP who received the Duke correspondence… I think they sent a text to students as well as an email to parents to make sure the message was received as time is of the essence. The email heavily implied that an acceptance would come quickly if you replied favorably to the form.


Same here. It’s moving.

That’s fair, wasn’t thinking about tuition and how that plays out. Was only thinking about possible flights on the financial side.

Agree to disagree, once started it doesn’t matter anymore. It was still a mind bender when mentally committed elsewhere regardless of when that happens.

Mine got off waitlist last year first part of May. I realize that’s much different than this week, but it’s the next 4 years and the connections beyond. If it’s the best fit for a kid, don’t be afraid to switch. Once there the crazy timing will be a distant memory.

Fascinating. Duke starts early - my friend is dropping his kid off around August 16 as they have a semi-mandatory pre-term orientation. Room assignments are already out. So not a lot of time to pivot.

I had an MBA classmate who turned all her plans around with a month's notice. Including an adult residence move, leasing commitments, etc.

After school starts, whatever happened in the summer is NBD.

Pp again. This is exactly what happened. DS was WL in April, opted to stay on the WL and wrote a LOCI, though didn’t express that Duke was his top choice. In early June he was notified that the WL was closed and the class was full. 6pm last night he received a text and email from Duke, and I got an email as well. We were stunned to say the least.


Is he going to reply with continued interest or stay where he is?
