All in addition my academic classes. I learned to swim, cook a meal, drive a car, weld, fix a car, carpentry etc. all actual useful stuff in HS in addition to academics. During 1980s phased it out.
Today’s kids graduate with zero skills for real world. I could change my Dads Alternator, build a bookcase and make dinner at 16 from what I learned in High School

I’ve always felt it should be offered in school as not all students can afford to take it outside. I didn’t mind paying for my kids to do I Drive Smart but many families don’t have that option.
Mc has a more affordable option.

I used to teach in Jefferson County WV and the HS offered drivers ed through the PE department. Essentially it was used to put athletic coaches in classrooms as full employees rather than stipend employees.
Was it ever offered in MCPS? I graduated here in 2002 and we didn’t have it as an option back then
They used to have it until the 90s
