Subject: What other boards besides DCUM do you use for college info?

Snarky doesn't bother me. Recently, many post just seem to be flat out wrong or just stupid. Typically goes something like this:
OP: "DS is interested in economics."
NP: "You should check out Harvard or UChicago." OR
OP: "Looking for a small, nurturing SLAC in the NE."
NP: "Have you considered Carleton or Pomona?"

There are some good posters here and seeing more sharing that biggest predictor is your particular HS, but still many that spout of like their experience is gospel for all.

I actually think DCUM is the worst one out there. The anonymous nature of this forum allows people to say some crazy stuff without providing good reasons/facts.
DCUM is by far the worst. It’s absolutely net negative in terms of value added. I hope no one is taking the “advices” here seriously. Otherwise you’re ruining your kids future.
Question: do you also like to sit and watch bad movies so that you can confirm they are bad?
I tried to entertain myself on how stupid the movies were.

I’d equate it more to “bad” reality trash tv that can also be oh so entertaining.

The "Paying for College 101" Facebook page is a WEALTH of information. Not limited to discussions on "paying".
Search any college on the page and you will get all sorts of great info about admissions results etc.
There is also "Paying for College for High-Income Families" Facebook page, but I don't find that one quite as helpful.
