The kid is watering plants on days of no rain (and assuming Op is posting locally we all know that weve been getting daily evening thunderstorms).

So the neighbor kid is there watering on occasion and for like 10 min.

My 14 year old recently did this for a neighbor and was paid $15 per time she went to their house.

Same here! Neighbors usually give us bottle wine or small gift from their trip. But I can understand paying a 12 year old. It’s a summer job for them. I would err on the side of being very generous.

That’s a daily responsibility, and if it doesn’t rain, that’s a lot more work. You also need to pay something to have her on standby for the outside part. The teens around here all charge a lot more than what’s being batted around. It’s also another set of eyes on your house. My tween was doing this and caught a huge leak in a house. I’d pay at least $140/wk ($20/visit) and a lot more if there’s no rain.

I would do it for free if a neighbor asks. Any tip is welcome. But I think dcumers like to spend money 🤑

Mail holds are at the vagaries of your local post office and carriers. We no longer have a regular carrier, just assorted random ones. Last mail hold the mail never came. Turns out they delivered it to a neighbor who finally brought it over. Eeek.

I pay our neighbour $100 a week.

This is a chore, OP. My DD is on the last day of two weeks of doing this for a neighbor and it’s been a lot. It’s summer, and she often makes impromptu plans with friends, so I’ve been helping her, but I know she worries they’ll judge her for not being there and having me cover for her. Please pay this child well.

Do your 6 weeks away overlap when your 12 yr old is already back in school by chance?

Im laughing at these responses about $20/ day.

My 13 yr old charges $5/day for neighbir mail retreival and even walks around the yard to double check things, pick up large branches from the daily evening thunderstorms, etc.
