Post 07/25/2025 14:03     Subject: What is your longest time at one job?

In my 20s I had jobs every 2-3 years.
Got MBA, went from 35k to 75k; went to a big company w a terrible culture and constant layoffs, hated it, got laid off after 2 years.
At 32, started at another big company. I have had 4-5 jobs there moving up gradually and have been here 18 years. Make $210k plus stock, w good work life balance.
I hope to retire in 7-8 years. I’m always looking outside the company for better opportunities, but nothing seems to offer what I have today, so it will probably only leave if I’m laid off again.

I'm starting my 14th year of teaching and I'm considered one of the long termers. Most teachers have fewer years experience than I do at my school. I started at $55k (I was so excited because it sounded like so much!) and now make $105k.

Been at my federal agency for over 30 years. Stayed due to work life balance. Started at about 19k as a grade 5 right out of college and now over 220k. Thought I’d never stay this long but I’m actually content. Planning to stay at least another 8 to 10 years.

I started at my current firm when I was 23. I have been here 35 years. When my twins were born 25 years ago, I started working 50%. I make $200,000. Very small pay increases now but the flexibility and salary is ok with me.

Every 2-3 years. One I would've stayed at my whole career but I was laid off. Another I would've stayed at long term but they were not prioritizing my team and I knew I was better off elsewhere.

So far 11.5ish yrs. I like my job, I’m good at it and it’s easy and low stress. I’m happy with the compensation so I’ll stick around for a while.

Started at 62k and now also make around 155k. If you’re an outlier I am too.

Oh and now I just read you took 3 maternity leaves totaling a year, which u did as well. Crazy how similar our paths are. I’ve also accepted I’m like stuck for the long haul even though things are rough right now.
