Wait that's a no makeup look? She has amazing natural contouring, if so. Are we sure it's not a minimal makeup look?

I see the makeup but maybe it’s not playing up the eyes? She’s wearing makeup that it keeps it natural, not plays anything up. But Pam is the one talking about not wearing makeup so it makes sense people don’t see it.

Keep in mind she's under professional lighting at these events with a ton of photographers with flash bulbs. That's one of the reasons most stars wear much heavier makeup to these events, as well as more refined hair styling -- most people, but especially a natural blonde with pale skin, will look washed out under those conditions without using very lighting and camera friendly makeup. I don't think of Cate Blanchett or Tilda Swinton as super heavily made up, but both wear professional makeup on the red carpet and at major events to even out skin tone, provide some contrast between skin and hair, and just to look polished under the lights.

One thing I kind of love about what Pam is doing is that, for instance, she's wearing eye makeup and mascara, but her eyes look like a normal person's eyes. That's what my eyes look like with mascara and some shadow, which is the most I ever do. Yes, I CAN make my eyes look larger and way more dramatic if I do more elaborate eye makeup with liner and use all the tricks with shadow. But also my eyes are pretty without that and I shouldn't have to spend 30 minutes on elaborate eye makeup to look "pretty." Pam looks pretty here even if her makeup isn't glamorous and perfect. It's the anti-Kardashian and I think a much needed counterbalance to the pressure even regular women now seem to feel to wear false eyelashes and contouring so they can look like people on Instagram.

Maybe you are reacting to how busy the dress is. But, see how her features are distinct and bright? And her face is in the same color saturation as the dress?

In the purple dress, she looks faded, especially as compared to the dress which almost seems like it's from a different picture than her head. A lighter and grayer purple would have suited her better.

I’m not a big makeup wearer so I personally don’t care. I find the inconsistently weird though- Pam gets praise for her natural look, not just tolerance. Not something given out across the board.

Nope, this is not her color. The blue in carpet lettering or black (she would look great in black)

I actually think she's wearing a full face of makeup, including mascara and eyeshadow, in both photos. But it's a natural look and closer to what a normal person would wear to work or out to dinner, instead of the kind of "Hollywood glam squad" makeup many of us are used to seeing on red carpets. Probably a tinted moisturizer or CC cream instead of foundation, no false eyelashes, lip gloss instead of matte lipstick and liner, etc.

I have very similar coloring to her, though I think she highlights her hair to blend grays whereas I just do demi permanent dye to blend them and it's less effective (and leaves my hair a darker blonde than hers). But it's a far cry from the platinum she used to wear, far less processed. Plus shorter, and clearly no weaves or falls for added volume.

The groundbreaking thing about this is that she is not using makeup tricks to transform her looks and conceal "flaws" like her pale brows, some uneven skin texture, etc. She is accepting her actual looks, and just using a bit of makeup and styling to enhance how she really looks. There may have been red carpets or photo shoots where she went truly no makeup, I'm not sure. But I see makeup, it's just a natural look that allows her to shine through, instead of a mask.

She looks fantastic in the purple dress. Much better than the icy blue dress with the bangs. That was not a good look on her even though she is beautiful.

She’s a cool summer, which I am as well. Very little contrast between her skin and hair and features. Yes pale blue looks amazing on cool summers. This color is a bit intense for a cool summer, so I wouldn’t use it as a “that’s so your color” example the way OP did but she does look good.

I was thinking you were talking hair colour OP and agree toning down the platinum or brassiness to this natural colour is perfection.
