This is why I didn't go on it. My aunt just went thru all the debilitating symptoms later in life.

Everyone is different. My mom took HRT, it was enormously helpful to her, and she never developed cancer (knock on wood, she's in her 70s). I don't take it, but would never judge anyone who does. I'm medication-averse in general, simply due to having very negative side affect experiences in the past. I also avoid SSRIs, even though I think they are great and am happy for people who can take them with positive results. I can't. That doesn't mean they are bad drugs!

At the end of the day, it's your body, you live with the consequences of your own choices, and no one gets to decide for you. Bodily autonomy. Women in particular should be understanding of that.

Who acts like this? Some people are so weirdly controlling and judgmental. It has to do with their own fear and anxiety. Ignore your friend and if she brings it up again, let her know you aren't interested in discussing it.

I think back to "friends" I have had over the years who were super judgmental over things like my birth control choices (one friend who harangued me about getting a IUD for years even though I had no interest -- it just wasn't for me) or menstrual care (getting harassed for using tampons by a menstrual cup advocate, for instance). I didn't raise these issues either -- some women are just overtly proselytizing about certain women's health issues and will bring it up specifically to try and get you to agree with them and do what they do. It's like the "natural birth" debate or breastfeeding versus bottle feeding.

These are person, individual choices. Unless someone has specifically asked for feedback, keep your strong opinions on these matters to yourself. It's not up to you.

It is odd the way it’s being pushed so much now. It does make one wonder why.

Certain drugs increase the chance of cancer like birth control and HRT.

Everybody has to wear the risks.

Can someone explain to me - does HRT just delay in the inevitable? You can't stay on it forever, so what happens, when you go off it, say at age 70? Is it a steep drop-off in wellbeing at that point?

I trust the doctors in my life, who say it is safe (meaning small risks) for most women, and that it can lower some risks.

However - I was in such misery that I’d reluctantly take increased cancer risk as a trade off. I couldn’t sleep - like, COULD not sleep for more than short stretches and never deeply - had terrible hot flashes and was flooded with rage at random intervals throughout the day. I wanted to die I was so exhausted. That went on for over a year. So yeah. I’ll take the HRT.

THC helped a lot, actually - with the sleep, anyway, which helped with the rage. But I thought HRT was probably the better option.

I’m GenX. I’m in HRT. Think it’s a no brainer. My mom’s convinced it would have given her cancer. I don’t argue with her but I am sad for her.

Three doctors does not equal “most.”

+1 million

Even the lead scientist said that the link wasn’t statistically significant. Name was Rousseau I believe.

Thoughts? Am I being reckless for staying on it? I’m still peri

No. You aren't wrong and if you aren't sure, get a second opinion. Not from your friend but from a specialist.

Unless your friend is a gynecologist, I’d ignore her. I wouldn’t have told her in the first place.

My friend who had her ovaries removed around 40 went on it right away.
