No you did not overstep but they definitely did OP!

They were like super rude to not just go into their house!

It was mostly an excuse to make them go away from my windows

So you were inside and came outside hoping it would make them go away and now you are worried they will retaliate even though they didn’t even seem to notice you?

This is paranoia.

No I spoke to them asking if all was well and stating id be hanging out here wait for a friend. This is all in my OP

They might think you are weird, but there’s nothing in that to make them angry.

You’re working yourself up over nothing.

They've forgotten you by now, OP. Some people are rude and yell in public all the time, but this might have been an extremely painful and intense situation about eldercare that pushed them to the brink.

That's a good way to get them to focus their frustration and anger on someone new, and team up against you and you get attacked. Just saying, seen that happen a lot in certain areas.

That’s what I wanted to do! But even acknowledging them and saying I needed to be where they were was pretty big for me. I try to stay out of any trouble, esp if ppl look trashy

Then next time do it. If you’re too shy then that’s a you problem. You can do it.

And they won’t, like, take revenge on me? Film me as a white Karen? (They aren’t black, but still)

No. You're ridiculous.

This.

They are in hell right now. Eldercare is hell on earth.

I know this, I have a senior parent too. Just don’t take it outside your home.

What you described may be typical for some families, but's it's abusive behavior and not "normal" behavior.

Cultural differences are not objectively wrong. Some people are loud by nature.
