Me too. I live in California and our Regional Centers handle services for the developmentally disabled.

The regional centers are full beyond capacity and overwhelmed.

To the op: can’t you just open your home for a little bit to help this person?

The police will put him in jail.

Please, don’t do this.

He won’t get the services he needs in jail. And he’ll have a record, which can complicate the rest of his life.

what would he be put in jail for? it's not a crime to be homeless or sit in a cafe. OP doesn't have to share the part about trespassing (?) in an abandoned restaurant.

You aren't going to get locked up for trespass either. Not since COVID.

Anonymous wrote:As the parent of a young adult with psychosis, the implication that somehow an adult with ASD being homeless is more alarming or heartbreaking than one with schizophrenia is pretty disturbing.

DP. They are both alarming and heartbreaking. I have both in our extended family and often it is only family that is keeping these individuals from being homeless.

If he’s in MoCo, he can get connected to healthcare for the Homeless through the Crisis Center, and there should be people there who can help him.

Strike up a conversation, become cafe friends.

Go to the library and collect flyers for social services.

Give a meal gift bag (orange/apple, granola bar, cookie, sandwich, drink) with the flyers included.

It's called trespassing.
