Can you explain how it works with a dorm bed with an attached headboard? I feel like I am missing something.

My daughter didn’t get one and now they did her roommate. I don’t know how it would even attach. What she did get was a power strip which we then taped to the wall next to her bed. That was very helpful. Her roommate got one of those things that hangs down from the side of bed to put stuff in but my daughter didn’t think it would be useful. Having moved freshman out of a dorm room my big takeaway is “less is more”! Even with the stuff she had I had to take a day off work to help her pack it all up and figure out storage for it over the summer. I agree with Pp that a lot just gets trashed because people can’t figure out what to do with it for the summer. At least the posters pack flat or roll up.

Mine got a shag rug for her room—that was not a thing when I went to college but she really did like it. But it definitely meant we needed a truck or to hire movers to store it over the summer. I’m also wondering how it will anell after summer in storage but I guess we’ll see. I’ll have to send her with febreze or something. I rolled it inside out, wrapped it in an old sheet and then used packing tape, trying to find a way to minimize dirt collection but also let us breathe over the summer.

In sum, do not fall prey to the arms race on dorms decoration.

We got a really nice one for my DD at a thrift store, painted & covered it ourselves, and it ended up being used in the guest room of her first apartment. Pottery Barn would’ve ended up trashed. I work hard for my money and would rather buy quality stuff, dorm room or not.

Not a PP but the reason you care is it's expensive and cheaply made.

There are a ton for resale. Are you part of your schools Facebook page? See if they have a resale site. If not, wait until you get there and look around.

My daughter’s had outlets on the side which was very helpful in her old dorm room that didn’t have enough outlets.

My daughter ended up not getting but plenty of girls do.
Do you follow the Dorm sites on Facebook? They have good recs.

Only certain schools have this. Many schools do not have girls who have designer rooms. Never saw one room like that at kids ivy. Must be a southern thing. Save the money OP and say No or make your own

If the one she likes is OOS, go on Ebay. They have everything and often at a discount. Have it sent directly to her college address.

You don’t need a headboard. If your daughter wants to lean back in bed, put the bed against the wall and she can stand her pillow up behind her as padding.

I recommend you do not get one.
