He’s a great guy, too. It’s hard to get in for 9th. Reach out to the soccer coach and athletic director, but to get in, you also need top grades and more than just soccer

In boys- the best players are in MLSNexr and don’t play high school.

HS level is low. People will say “oh X HS is great. They win all of the time. Undefeated”

We saw that. It’s funny. Yeah- if you play HS with 40 total boys in a grade (most don’t play soccer) and your school has 250 boys per grade….hmmmmm, think about it. You have kids with soccer as their primary sport since age 5 playing hockey players, etc.

I don’t think a parent with those school choices is looking at a school or area like Herndon.

I think that was pp's point. you aren't going to get great soccer in a school full of rich white kids.

*for boys - for girls it's almost a requirement

We'll look at Gonzaga, St Johns, Landon, St Albans, St Andres, Bullis, Maret and possible GDS and Sidwell. How are these soccer teams doing? Any of them known for strong programs? He'll continue with his travel team (Arlington) but also would like to play in High School. I know he may need permission but we want to see which teams are worth looking at. (Do any of them recruit?). Thank you!

I will be exploring Landon, Bullis, Sidwell and Maret myself but I don’t think any of these options will actually support his soccer development while they support the academic side.

We are looking into alternatives such as Stanford Online High School to properly align the structure that supports our child and his goals on and off the pitch.
