Near the heel in the back or on the sole.
Not to sound silly, but are his shoes worn down? Fit correctly?
My 14 yo gets plantar fasciitis pain when sneakers need replacing!
Pain in the heel area at the back. Shoes are not worn out.
Our son had that... a little bit younger than your son. We took him back to the Shoe Train in bethesda, where they actually measure a kid's foot—they said his feet were wide and regular shoes were not giving him the support. Said it was extremely common. Found him with a wider pair of shoes and it stopped immediately.
We have to pay special attention to all this with his cleats in particular but it has really helped.
Try a good shoe store where someone knowledgable about fitting of shoes can help you—their feet are growing so quickly at that age, it's actually quite hard to get a good fitting shoe.
