Tell me you live a block from Metro without...

We do a shuttle where one family member drops the others at the metro with the luggage, drives back to the house and then runs from the house to the metro. All told, it takes about a half an hour, but driving through town with all of the traffic is more stressful.

All this to avoid paying for airport parking? Why?

It's not that big a deal to us. But it sounds like it would be for you?

For everyone suggesting metro, ICYMI:

The op still would need to find transportation to the metro station…which is presumably why they are looking for a car service directly to the airport.

Fwiw, we either drive and park at the garage attached to the airport OR ask someone to drive our minivan to drop us off (eg: neighbor or friend). We’re paying our kid’s friend to do this for us.

Uber XL will often not fit 5 with luggage. We are a family of 4 and when we order Uber XL we are often sent a car with a tiny 3rd row that must be folded to hold 4 suitcases. It’s usually like a Traverse or Enclave. DH has to sit shotgun and the kids and I sit 3 across the middle row. There would be no seat for a 5th person. It’s very rare we get sent a minivan or suburban type car. Maybe if you order Black XL it’s bigger, but we don’t pay for black.

This is the dumbest idea ever.

Uber XL. They now have Uber XXL. We just took a prescheduled XL at 5:30 am with 5 people and lots of luggage. They always show up slightly early but they will wait until the scheduled time.

If it doesn’t mess up your budget I would just do two Ubers.

Older people sometimes can’t figure out how to get an uber.

I’ve used Roadmaster Transportation, based in Kensington (the part that seems to be in Rockville) for 20 years. Very reliable.

Sounds like Uber or Lyft is the way to go.
But not sure if 5 adults and luggage can fit into one Uber Black or we might need 2 cars.

And Is the GW parkway still a nightmare?

Uber XL is what you want.

GW Parkway not great, but plenty of other routes from Bethesda.
