I’ll give you that, but to say SP as a whole is hickish/redneck/waterbilly way off the mark. Lived in SP all my life…

Maybe you should leave your little bubble in Severna Park one day and take a drive down River Road/Bradley Blvd/Chain Bridge Rd in Bethesda/Potomac/McLean. Maybe you’ll humble yourself and see that you’re not as different from Pasadena as you think you are. If you think Chartwell is anything unique, you haven’t been around that much.

Severna Park is grossly overhyped because of its homes on the Severn River and because it doesn’t have apartments, but the non waterfront homes (80% of the homes) and neighborhoods are nothing to write home about, and there’s actually far better neighborhoods within Anne Arundel County itself.

This is not true at all. Howard County is far more charming than Loudoun County ever will be, and River Hill HS in HoCo ranks higher than any high school in Loudoun does.

Howard County is beautifully and thoughtfully planned/put together, has beautiful parks, a nice mall, and greater diversity. Loudoun County is just an ugly, sprawling place with highways, wide roads, and a bunch of ugly data centers. Howard is closer to Annapolis, DC, Baltimore, the water, and NYC. Loudoun is in the middle of nowhere.

Loudoun is only for white people who could only afford Annandale or Baileys Crossroads in Fairfax County or Indians who work in data centers. Aka it will be another Montgomery Village/Germantown/Clarksburg once it’s not all brand new and shiny anymore.

Sorry, but the issue is you lived in SP all your life and bought into that Anne arundel county motto “the best place”. That they later had to add a tag line to …”for all” because it was offensive.

Once you look around at what Hoco and Bethesda has to offer, you get the idea that SP is pretty provincial. It’s saving grace is the water. But that water is often polluted and man does the sand get everywhere.

I have friends that live in HoCo and Bethesda, they hate it. Hoco is in the sticks and Bethesda is too crowded. I have a house right on the beach in Ocean City so I get my water fix whenever I want. To each their own…

Depends what you want. Proximity to DC, country, or water.

Spelling and grammar errors in my post abound and for that you will have to blame Anne arundel public schools!

It's all about context. If you're comparing Severna Park to Bethesda or Clarksville, then it is redneck. If you're comparing Severna Park to Pasadena or Edgewater, then it's not. Severna Park does have a noticeable element of working-class white conservatives, less so on the Severn River side and more-so on the Magothy River side. Severna Park would probably be lumped in with Damascus or Olney if it were in Montgomery County.

If you can afford it, bethesda all the way. HoCo houses are just as expensive for that one good pyramid. Severna Park if worry about peer group and you still have to supplement with tutoring and coaching.

SP is extremely white and very toxic community culture. Everyone is your friend until they're not. Houses way too close together and everyone in each other's business.
We moved out when all the BLM signs were on everyone's lawns yet no black people live there.

Maybe but like 27th in their class and work for Kaiser and married to SAHM. More like defense sales reps and GS13s from ft Meade

Good lord. You've never been to Western Howard, have you? Anyone who can afford Western Howard = dual income high earning households in a range of professions and occupations. Many are Asian/South Asians.

You're more likely to find a SAHM in Bethesda due to the family money and biglaw partners.
