WTF! Sad
Anonymous wrote:If you aren't cooking for your teens, what are you doing for your own dinner? Are you talking about situations where you have dinner plans out?
Otherwise, are you cooking dinner for yourself and not adding a portion for your kids?

Do you all work full time? If so, why oh why are most of the home chef as well? A 16 yo or 17 yo can cook!!
In my case, it’s because I like to cook. My kids know how to cook but if they don’t choose to they can do the dishes or mow the lawn or do the laundry or contribute in some other way and I will be happy because I like cooking better than those tasks.
Oh sure, it’s so fun to be a servant! /s

Yesterday he made us breakfast for dinner. Tomorrow he said he'd make spaghetti. On weekends, he usually tries a new recipe and I might get Panera or pizza. The other nights are usually leftovers. My DS knows better than to ask me about dinner when he's had off all day.

Anonymous wrote:Of course. Is this an American thing, to not cook for your child when they're still living with you? My teens sometimes make their own meals, if they don't like what their father and I plan on cooking. Sometimes we all decide to have what they're cooking, so they make enough for everyone. But the default is that the parents cook, and more generally, provide for the family - we are paying and will pay for their colleges, for example.
We are originally from western Europe and have relatives in East Asia, and everyone we know has a similar lifestyle.
