I genuinely don’t understand this. Has it become abnormal for parents to provide dinner? Don’t most parents have to eat dinner themselves anyway?
My parents provided us dinner (and yes they both worked FT) and we too, provide our kids dinner (and yes, we both work FT).
Generally that means that we cook, but sometimes it is takeout or something, sure.
If we are out, the kids figure out their own meals. We have plenty of food available. But if we are home and eating, we feed them as well.

I think they are saying their teens usually cook dinner? or maybe everyone fends for themselves most nights?
At my house, the teens (3) have jobs and/or sports practice most late afternoons & evenings. Usually I cook (or DH does) and we eat with any of the kids that are home. Anyone not home can reheat leftovers later. We make enough for all.

People enjoy different things. Even women are allowed to choose for themselves what they enjoy, without being called "Stepford wives". I'm sorry you're too immature to understand that.
I like to cook. If it's not fun for you then make a different plan and do something else, but in our family everyone contributes, and a fair amount of cooking is my contribution.

We are originally from western Europe and have relatives in East Asia, and everyone we know has a similar lifestyle.
I'm middle class and kids and teens do a lot more than what I read about UMC kids here. Mine have always had chores and they all take turns cooking (less during the school year). We don't have cleaning people. My teens mow the lawn in addition to regular chores.

Same as PPs. I/DH will shop and make sure there are provisions for breakfast and lunch but that’s everyone for themselves. We eat together most nights. It’s one of the few things I feel I’ve done right as a parent. 😉 We split the cooking with one person leading and everyone else helping as they are able/available. The main cook doesn’t do clean up. Our DS cooks more on his own than our DD. She is a grazer.
