American dried apricots, figs, and cherries are not easily found in France. Same for pecans and macadamia nuts. Weirdly, ziplock freezer bags and heavy duty aluminum foil are hard to come by, and is a good practical gift, but not that exciting.

Also agree that you should take them out for a meal while you're staying with them.
