Maybe just me, but I would not wear black or navy in this heat. A suit like this in white or a light neutral would look better now.

My spouse just interviewed this week. He drove in to Rosslyn and parked there (cheaper). Then took the metro only a few stops to the destination downtown.

Why is everyone talking about entirely new outfits instead of just taking an air conditioned Uber or taxi? Wtf?

Are you sure the interviews will be in person? I’ve been doing a ton of interviewing and only one has been in person.

For that I did metro, stopped at a coffee shop to cool off, used bathroom to touch up makeup etc… it wasn’t perfect because my hair and dc humidity aren’t a great fit but it wasn’t a super appearance conscious place

I like the idea of stopping and getting a cool drink near the office to chill down and regroup. I have a weird fear that I will run into the manager there. I definitely need to practice and also see if I can but something an get it tailored before next week.

In the before COIVD times I had to wear a suit to work every day in DC/VA and sometimes I would metro.

Skirt suit with shell or even nicer plain tank top underneath. Keep the jacket off until you get to the door of the building. In this weather, I would also definitely uber to the interview to avoid getting super sweaty.

OP, 51 year old woman here who recently was back on the job market. I think if you want to get in the right mindset you need to take a holistic approach so that you are as confident and ready as you can be. If this is a job you actually want you will need to be strategic. if you are out of interview practice ask a friend who has experience in the sector or profession to do a practice interview for you. Ask Chat GPT for for sample questions and practice your answers. Get your hair colored if graying and a good cut. If you are open to it, Botox (but at least a week or two beforehand) so it can settle and you don’t look like you just got Botox. Ask them to do baby Botox for you if you have never done and just want a light improvement. Age discrimination is real unless you are interviewing for a USG job but I understand there aren’t many of those right now. As I’m sure you know it is tough to get to the interview stage these days in this area. You want to take your best shot. If you can afford it get a suit that fits well and you feel confident in. JCrew is a good option and MM Lafleur even better if you can afford it and need some extra help figuring out fit etc. if you have two days of interviews you cannot wear the same suit even if you change the blouse. The same jacket and two different dresses would be ok. absolutely take uber and get there early to reset. I recommend getting those small anti shine makeup tissues from CVs so you can quickly freshen up in the bathroom and bring a little makeup for a touch up if needed. You can still metro - just give yourself an extra 30 minutes and scout out a coffee shop or casual restaurant near the interview site where you can pop in to grab a drink and re-set your temperature.
