Tollefson is hosting again. Does anyone know if there will be bag tags this time? What about walk-out music and fanfare at finals? For 10U swimmers, those two things are most important.

Oh boy. You must have missed the spirited debate about attending divisionals (effectively an NVSL prelim) if the swimmer did not plan to swim at all stars (akin to finals). Some people were fired up! (Yes, yes, I know NVSL limits each divisional event to two swimmers per team, so it’s not apples-to-apples.)

So far, nobody has actually answered OP’s question.

10 and under parents: no one cares at that age whether your kid bails on LC champs in favor of summer swim. It is not that deep.

Yes. MCSL divisionals are Saturday mornings. Usually 8 am start, meaning your warm up time could be as early as 6:50 am

If you are a 13-14 boy going sub 5:10 in the 400 IM LCM and they are stressing about summer league all-stars there is a problem.

Not 'stressing,' but just 'would like to go and be with friends.' when my kid was 13 many years ago they finished 4th in 400 im at PV champs and didn't make NVSL All Stars. If they had to do it over, they might have rested more before Divisionals because there are plenty of more club meets coming for a 13 year old and IAS is fun.

Yeah, my 10U swimmers cares more about making IAS than swimming at another PVS Champs meet. We are signed up for both, but it would not surprise me if my swimmer bails on LC Champs.

A 2 hour drive home on a Friday night for a 10U, and then a 30+ minute commute to divisionals early the next morning does not make for a rested evening if the 10U is swimming 100 Back and 200 IM at prelims and finals. I agree with the above poster that this swimmer is not necessarily as fast at the sprints, and any 10U swimmers needs sufficient rest during a meet weekend. I know the argument (LC Champs and Divisionals are elective, sometimes we have to choose in life, yada yada, and I don’t disagree.) I only wish the meet committee had made 200 IM a timed final instead of placing it at the end of a long day. Heck, since they limited finals to 8 swimmers, they could have made all 10U events timed finals.

😂 when this thread started about the 10 and unders it was understandable, but the 13-14s are a different thing. If you are finaling the 13-14 events you can make All Stars without max effort and preparation. And yes, I know the distances are different but people are overestimating the importance of summer swim times and underestimating the talent of the kids that final the 13-14 events even if 50 sprints aren’t their best events.
