We always get two rooms .One for us, one for now 16 yo DS. And we don’t do adjoining rooms. We are typically in a suite and DS is in a standard room or deluxe/larger room unless he gets upgraded.

And yees sex is a big part of why we do this. When we are vacation we are having sex multiple times a day.

Family of 6.

Sometimes we get a 2 or 3 bedroom condo.

When we cruise, we always get 2 cabins; sometimes we split 3/3 and sometimes we split 2/4.

When we stay at hotels in Europe, we typically split 3/3.

When we stay at an Embassy Suites or comparable hotel with 2 beds plus a pull out couch, we don’t get an additional hotel room. If there’s no couch, then we get two rooms.

When driving, we always bring an air mattress in a duffel bag just in case someone opts to crash separately. (These days it’s a trifold Milliard foam sleep mattress in a travel bag—far more comfy than an air mattress.)

I can’t imagine getting two hotel rooms for a family of 3—especially a teen girl who seems uncomfortable being alone. You might consider inviting a friend to join you and having the two girls stay in their own hotel room (or a cousin).

I thought this thread was about OPs entitled kid expecting their own space. 😀

No, the basic hotel room won’t be as much fun

OMG you'll have to vacation like the pooooors! The horror!

That’s not what I’m saying at all. We have the option to stay in a nicer room. Why does the option even exist at all if people don’t prefer nicer accommodations? I don’t understand why you think it’s crazy to want to stay in a nicer room with a nicer view, or whatever.

What makes it "fun"? Who is in their room that much?

Honestly some vacations are more about sex than others. Going to Japan and walking 20k steps while jetlagged vs going to a Caribbean island and hanging out on the beach.

Visit the relationship forum. Most posters here don’t have sex.

Apparently, no. I once asked how to cleverly kick the kids out of the room for a while to enjoy time with DH, and you wouldn’t believe the comments! People said it was gross that we couldn’t go a week without sex, and how rude it would be to have sex in the same room they had to come back and sleep in.

There should be no expectations if they are not paying.

Not ever. Has not been an issue.

Does nobody want to have sex with their spouse on vacation? I can’t understand cramming into one room if you have the financial resources for any other arrangement.
