They know how to read, but the problem is that they are amazing at logical fallacies and poster children for the Dunning-Kruger effect.

The combination brings us DCUM democrats.

OMG, you people are such bad faith dimwits. Who ties your shoes for you? Nobody said the letter literally comes out and asks Canada to control the weather. The title of the thread is an ironic joke highlighting the impossibility of this demand, as in “they’re asking for the moon”. When they demand that Canada stop its forest fires, the only way Canada can do that is by altering the weather conditions, because they are the actual root cause. The letter writers leave that out because they don’t understand, or care, enough to do any real research.

And if anyone mentions controlling floods so as not to kill innocent children, I bet you'd whine that this isn't the right time. It's never the right time to point out that the US can't control it's own wildfires and flash floods, isn't it?

Terminal hypocrite.

Nuance isn't your strong suit. No human could have stopped the flash flood that happened in Texas. But humans had the means to control the LA wildfires, but incompetence and bureaucracy won in that scenario.

Why don't conservatives have any agency? I guess that why they can't abide Federal agencies, lol.

Why is it always "why didn't the liberals save us from our own mistakes?" ?

Forests and fires are God's will.

Thoughts and Prayers.

Maybe Texans want to open a religious camp in a fire prone area, to replace the one on the flood plain?

Anyway, America First! Use some of that $150B ICE money to report the smoke.

Go on. What's your suggestion there, Dunning-Kruger? Bedazzle us with your cognitive ability.

The wildfires are being caused by extreme WEATHER conditions. Drought and warmer temperatures -> ideal conditions for wildfires. Lack of precipitation and heat are part of the WEATHER. Canada does not have any control over the WEATHER. Cause and effect.

I love it when conservatives preen that they’re so much smarter than liberals, and then basic concepts have to be explained to them using small words.

Nowhere did they ask Canada to control the weather. They clearly are asking for better forest management.

They want Canada to control how the smoke “makes its way south” - you know, control wind patterns aka weather. Got it?

Do conservatives know how to read a map? The vast majority of burned acreage is occurring in the Boreal forest, hundreds of miles from any settlement. This is unmanaged Forest, more remote than the interior of Alaska. The idea that Canada is going to send a chainsaw crew to “manage” this ecosystem is laughable.

Logic this one out, MAGA moron.

"Canada possesses 367 million hectares (ha) of forest, which constitutes 9% of the global forest area and 25% of the worldwide boreal forest."

https://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Forests_of_Canada

"The treacherous combination of rising temperatures and dried-up fuels has made Canadian forest much more prone to severe wildfires in recent decades, a new study has found."

This has to be a joke! The letter must be dated April 1.

Flooding, wildfires, hurricanes - thread after thread about problems affecting us, affecting Canada and then affecting us - yet Republicans continue to ignore the massive elephant in the room that is anthropogenic climate change that ties all of it together.

Exactly. The sad part in all of this is that they don't even mention weather or climate. Climate change has led to hotter, drier conditions which increases the likelihood of forest fires, extends wildfire season and so on. Also, pine beetle infestations have been driven by climate change, and that causes a lot of deadwood to fuel forest fires. Conservatives love to blank that out and memory hole it and pretend nothing is connected.
