Subject: If you've been let go & tasked with documenting your duties, how thorough were you?
I was laid off with two weeks’ notice and asked to do this. I had a generous severance package (more like 6-8 months). I still did a meh job as my heart wasn’t in it. Also, I changed passwords all to the same generic one and it wasn’t close to anything I used on my personal stuff. You may need a recommendation from this former employer years down the road (I did recently and it’s been five years), so no point in burning bridges.
In short, do a decent job but don’t put yourself out.

I would not train my successor in the event of an involuntary departure.
I would make a general outline of what I had to do on a regular basis (prepare and distribute TPS reports, check with Suzie on quarterly figures, etc.). I would not spend much time writing about how to do these things. Think of it as writing a job description for yourself, but with a bit more detail than usual. Even for a very complex job, this should easily fit on a single page.
If the employer wants more detail than that, then you are welcome to make yourself available as a contractor (or not) to provide that detail at some point in the future.

Nope!
You should have it all documented as part of your job. What if you won the lottery or what if you were in the Texas flood?
But if the job did not require documentation too bad so sad.
