Sandy Spring will soon be bought by a larger bank. Merger to happen later this year.

+1 They messed up and then made another mistake with the fix. Finally making the move elsewhere to another bank with local branches. Not interested in BOA, WF, AU, Truist or PNC for this purpose for different reasons. I like PNC just not for this. How is Chase or TD for checking and bill pay and the very basic of needs? I want ease and intuitive website and solid service. Any others?

Chase's IT is the best I have used, everything works well, they give you a lot of info through the website/app that no other bank does- like if you open a new account with a bonus, you can see your progress on meeting the bonus requirements.

TD's systems are pretty basic, but we have had our primary checking there for 10 years with no issues. The best part about TD is the weekend hours at their banks. Have only used it once, but so helpful to have as an option.

Td bank has been perfectly fine for us for 5+ years now. Billpay works fine and you can get someone on the phone if you need to.

Bank Of America gets a lot of hate, but I don't know why. They're about as good or bad as any other bank. I've never had any problems with them and I've been with them for years.

OP here. I realized I had a BofA credit card so I just went there. It’s not a bank I’ll use too often so hopefully it won’t suck.

presidential is a good local bank

PNC Bank is the best choice.
Bank of America is the second best choice.

We've been with BOA for decades. Once you are an Advantage member, most services are free.

Yes, we have had them for 25 years and no problems. Always convenient. Also very easy to use internationally if needed (used to be, not really anymore) as they have partnerships with lots of other banks.

I see personal finance gurus always talking about how bad they are, but I personally have not had negative experiences.

Navy Federal. BoA is absolute trash. "Lost" a $1500 cash deposit of mine. Immediately closed my account and never looked back.

Navy FCU and NW FCU both have lots of brick and mortar locations in this area.

NASA FCU has some brick and mortar offices also, though not as many as the two above.
