Disagree. The right accent color can bring life to an otherwise monochromatic palette.

Different poster. An accent wall can be visually appealing BUT the design powers that be have decided it is out of date. Unless you love it and/or can really make yourself not care that people think you’re totally out of date, you probably shouldn’t do it.

Personally, I think a lot of what’s in style does not appeal to me and just ignore it. I just had a lot of painting done and ignored advice to color drench. On the flip side of that, I’ve heard enough about how a tv over the fireplace is tacky to not do it, even though I think it looks ok. We all just have to decide how much the design police influence us.

Take a look at BM Pale Oak. A very warm gray/taupe.

You could also check out BM Wind's Breath - it leaned more warm/ beige in our north facing living room.

We have Swiss Coffee in multiple rooms with some sort of contrasting/darker trim, that could liven things up without going full color on the walls.

She also suggested BM Dove Wing or SeaPear and also Silver Satin or Balboa Mist. I bought some samples and will see how they look in the space. It’s hard to tell the undertones. I don’t want the walls to be monochromatic with my light beige furniture but I like warm undertones

We have Swiss coffee in most of our downstairs- it’s lovely, but basically white. I love edgecomb grey, I’ve used it for big and small spaces in prior houses; I particularly like it lightened 25%, especially if it’s a north facing room or one that gets less natural light. It seems to go with everything.

The thing about these light neutrals is that you need to make sure your trim color has similar undertones and is either intentionally lighter, or intentionally darker.

Edgecomb gray definitely has warm undertones. We have it in our DR, paired with linen white trim, and it’s very soft. Tell us what you decide!
