What Mamdani has -- and no DC mayor in my lifetime has demonstrated -- is a genuine love for the city and the people in it.

He believes NYC is special, and also that its constituent neighborhoods are special as well.

DC lacks a lot of the character of NYC, but we have things that make us special as well. It's just that every DC mayor has focused on a handful of constituent parts rather than the city as a whole.

White has the charisma of a wet rag and already has an inconsequential, flip-floppy legislation record that can be used against him. Mamdani is charismatic and basically did nothing in the assembly except vote against prohibiting ghost guns and revenge porn.

They share the same hateful antisemitic views.
I was just posting this... so upsetting. and so true.

No one ever has accused Robert White of antisemitism, so far as I know. You’re confusing him with Trayvon White, who would not be a credible candidate for mayor.

Anti Zionism is a cloak for antisemitism. So you can stop the BS now. Thanks.

No thanks.

That would be closest to Brooke Pinto.

At least Pinto has a law degree and has served as a government attorney. Nadeau (who comes from a richer family than Pinto) was a meeting scheduler before becoming perhaps the most mediocre DC Council member ever.

Elissa Silverman would like a word.

With so many losing their jobs in DC, due to federal cuts, why would any competent person even want the job? They'll just end up getting blamed for all of the social ills that plagued boom-bust towns like Detroit and Buffalo after their boom eras ended.

D.C. government is a three-ring circus. People who could actually make a difference (i.e., intelligent people, emotionally grounded people, pragmatic people, etc.) have no desire to get anywhere near the Wilson Building. The result is wave after wave of clowns or folks who can't find anything better to do. Sad state of affairs.

We need someone like Brandon Scott who has actually done a pretty good job in Baltimore so far.

So many poor attempts at shifting the Overton Window in this thread.
