Nicer clothes tend to run smaller. Vanity sizing is a very real thing.

I'm about your size and often find the XS sizes at the fast fashion stores run really large. But when I go to the nice section of Nordstrom, I'm a size 4 or 27/8 waist.

Also, FIND A TAILOR. it's worth it.

Look at designer brands (Theory comes to mind) that have a "P" size. It's not typically proportioned for super short women but rather for those with very small measurements who are just under 5'4.

Not to discount your opinion, but I am the same height, and my clothing sizes vary a great deal between 117 and 107. At 117 I can't fit comfortably into children's XL but at 107 I can, and as PPs have noted, it can be less expensive, especially for basics like base layer "long john" type clothing where the kids styling isn't a factor.

I've had good luck with athletic wear in children's XL although sometimes the tops are a bit tight across the chest.

I am questioning the OP's comment about petites being too short. I've only had that problem maybe once or twice in 40 years of shopping petite clothing.

I will +1 to thrift stores. I have found some of my favorite, high quality pieces at thrift stores when I can fit in the smaller sizes.

I have that issue with most petite clothing. I'm 5,3" but my limbs are proportionally long. The sleeves and inseams on petite clothes are often just a tad too short for me. I just buy regular sizes and get things shortened when needed.

In case you actually want an answer to this question: DP but Athleta Girl and the Target athletic girls’ stuff fit my petite frame for about 30% less. Same for some outdoorsy LL Bean stuff that’s super useful on rare occasions. Basic black running shorts are basic black running shorts.

If you're truly very small, some good bloggers are Pumps and Push Ups (I think she is 4'10?). Jean from Extra Petite is 5'0" and tiny. Crystalin Marie is 5'0" as well.

I’m way too tall for this to be an issue personally, but one of my close friends is short/small and has good luck at stores geared at teens. American Eagle has a very wide size range going all the way down to size 000 in some jeans styles (22-23” waist). Brandy Melville. The juniors sections at Macys and Nordstrom too. You just have to dig a little for styles that are appropriate for adult women vs. teens.

Also - Shein, if you don’t mind the cheapness of the clothes. They have a few brands that are Asian sizes so their size Large is about equal to a US size 4-6ish and then go down in size from there.

4’8”, 85lbs here… I fit nicely in a girls 10/12. Gap kids, abercrombie, and occasionally kohls are my kid sites. I can sometimes find stuff on American Eagle as well with the xxs or 000 short options. I used to be able to buy stuff in person, but vanity sizing the past 15 years or so has pushed me almost completely online.
