This popped up on recent topics. I forget, was there a thread somewhere where atheists proved there are no deities?

Yup. Then people complain that atheists post here or wonder why they care.

The only reason athiests post here is to ignite a conversation, then attempt to "own" the believers.

Atheists post here for the same reason you do. It's an engaging topic of discussion. Don't you find it telling that no atheists are demanding theists stop posting, and are instead encouraging them to do so?

It's not our fault your position is weak, and maybe indefensible depending on your specific beliefs. No one is making you engage. Your constant whining and complaining does nothing to help other theists.

No one is "demanding" that athiests stop posting. However, your fourth sentence proves my point. Thank you.

What is your point?

I hope you do return so we can tell you how incredible valuable your thoughtful, erudite contribution was, and how you made this forum, and the world in general, a far better place for the rest of us.

I think you forgot the /S.

I'm asking this with 100% sincerity and genuine curiosity:

Why do you care enough to spend so much energy on this board? What motivates you to do that? I'm genuinely fascinated.

There are various other threads on this very topic. It's surprising how many people are so fascinated by this topic.

So I’m not looking for religious threads, but I see them and sometimes feel like I have a relevant response.

Ditto. I don't browse by forum. I browse recent topics and click when something looks interesting. Rarely I will reply. Mostly I read along because what is baseline normal to me (a total lack of belief) is considered aberrant to so many and it is interesting and helpful to be aware of how people with fundamentally different worldviews think.

The Religion Forum is not the playground of the Christian faithful. I hope you also don't mind the Muslims posting here? There are several.

Are you also trying to convince Muslims that there is no God?

NP. As an ex-Muslim, all discussion is for everyone. I think it's weird that you associate discussion with "trying to convince."

Also want to add that as an ex-Muslim, Muslims face "trying to convince" by Christians all day every day, in the United States. You may not realize it if you're a Christian in America, but it seems to me as though you lack basic awareness of the position of others. Or find it mildly ideologically threatening.

I don't care how other religions practice their faith. I also don't care if athiests do not believe in God. I only care about practicing my own faith. However, for some reason there are those who insist on me "proving" that there is a God. Why?

It's a discussion. That's what this forum is for. Ignore it if you feel bothered enough to not engage. If you want an echo chamber, there are other sites for that.

Correct. That is why I am engaging and asking folks why I have to "prove" the existence of God. No answers, yet.

And the answer is, you don't "have" to. You can ignore, move on, or you can provide that proof if you so wish.

Great! Thank you.
