Your kids may feel bad that they don't have a gift to give you. Hopefully your DH thought of that in advance and they have something hiding?
But if not, take them out shopping to help you pick something out that you have been wanting. Maybe a rose bush for your garden, or a set of pots and seeds or plants for a small herb garden. Then they can help you plant them. Maybe a lap blanket for the sofa.
If you can't think of anything you want and they are young, send them into Dollar Tree and have them each select 3 things for you. Give the older $20 (now that they have mixed in $5 items!) and have them surprise you. The younger they are, the more hilarious it is what they choose. Have them buy 2 HBD helium balloons too.
Take them to your favorite restaurant then stop by a bakery and pick out a cake. Let them decide what to have written on it.
Come home and have balloons, gifts, cake with candles and call DH so he can join in singing HBD with the kids to you.
Everyone will feel pleased and happy.

DH work traveled on my birthday this year (it was a conference and he did not have control of the dates) and I didn’t think it would bother me but it was a total bummer. I have teen girls so I wasn’t alone and we went out to dinner and everything but it just felt weird. DH said he won’t do it again - he didn’t like it either.
