There is a lot of political support for Peace Corps. Many govt officials have served.

It is a very good form of soft power. For many in the world the only American they have ever met was often a Peace Corps volunteer.

I do have a lot of concerns about safety and whether or not volunteers are needed in a specific role/location in a country. That is often decided by the needs of the host country.

Former PCV. But it is very hard to replicate Peace Corps with any other organization. Most similar groups prefer to work in cities, universities at higher levels.

In time, service in organizations like the Peace Corps will be viewed as being a footsoldier for the settler colonialists. Poll after poll shows that longer we spend time in these nations, setting up abortion facilities and talking to them about transgenderism, the more they (understandably) hate us.

They need to get rid of Peace Corps and all other foreign aid to the third world. It does nothing but cause them to hate us.
