Exactly. I doubt I would want to hire anyone willing to work in the government right now.

Not all agencies are the same. NIH was a great place to work until the idiot POTUS came into office. Perfect, no, but still good. If the current admin of idiots hadn't started messing with things. Ugh.

I don’t see how the VA is going to hire. They have been destroying themselves.

Do you think your ex coworkers are going to welcome you back?

My agency lost 15%, and we are trying to hire previous employees that didn’t take the DRP to avoid training them too much.

Who would want to come back?

ICE may have a hiring boom. EPA not so much.

Which sector of private industry?

DP but same situation.

People who left us work in STEM and are being snapped up by Amazon, Google, and such like. I keep reading on DCUM about a tech downturn, but ex-Feds are getting hired pretty quickly. It might help that an ex-Fed can get a big pay increase even though the tech firm sees them as low cost -- Fed STEM salary gap is huge.

There’ll be a hiring boom sometime in 2029.

I can’t wrap my head around why we just pushed so many people out and paid them to leave but then are going to hire and train new people. This cannot be efficient.

They don't care. Musk wanted our personal data, and he got it. Lord knows where our private data is now.

Aren't many agencies still trying to RIF people? I realize there may be different job series being hired or fired but its not hard to imagine some overlap.

This. We spent so much time and effort trying to recruit American citizens who then were DOGEd. It took years to find these STEM staff who would move to the DC metro and accept federal pay.

Doesn't matter if we have hiring authority now, most feds at my agency are looking to leave if they have under 15 years with the government.
