My kids are way younger, but curious about this event. Is this something that is more self-driven and parents sign their own kids up? Or do their clubs recommend them to try out for this event?

Nope - we were there all weekend for a tournament, and the bathroom area is under construction so it is just port a potties. I’d send your girls with a cooler with ice and soaked towels, and they can rotate through the over towels at every water break. It helped a lot this weekend.
