It doesn't matter the undergrad will be compared to their school metrics for MD, phD, Law school, and even some high-level consulting. Everyone who matters can get the info on gpa ranges from target schools. Harvard and Brown are not significantly helped by their mild relative inflation over peer schools.

3.9 is not the average at Duke. 3.92 is the most recent cutoff for the top 25%.
3.81 was the median for 2024 because our close relative was a hair above and knew from the med admissions committee letter lists the median for each graduating class. However 3.81 is certainly quite high of a median, higher than most ivies.


Duke website says 3.963 25% 2025 (trinity). 3.933 for Pratt 2025.

PP says “average” not median. Either way, Duke is inflated.


No that is not what the chart on the website says. Cum laude is top 25%, you pulled the magna numbers(top 15%). For the 2025 graduating class ie 4yr cumulative, pratt was 3.90 top25% and 3.94 for trinity. The PP seems to have been using their 2024 graduates numbers.

UC Berkeley lists the average grade by course:

Berkeley artificially deflates goals and has a wide range of students at the institution. It’s really not the best example.

Penn Engineering school is just above 3.6. CAS is 3.7 and Wharton is 3.8+

Cornell at least 3 years ago was 3.6ish across most undergrad schools.

Rumor is Princeton is also around 3.6 but I do not have data on that one

My kids went to a hard private with zero inflation—unlike our public school system.
