I cut my grass at the highest level the mower will go up which is four and a half inches. I always cut it at 7:00PM in the summer months. Spring and fall in the late afternoon if the temperature is below 80 degrees.

It’s not out of control, but is looking a little tall.

It's not that hot. You are just looking for excuses and wanting validation.

1 hour of work won't kill you unless you are very ill already, in which case you need to focus on your health instead and hire out the lawn work.

Heat index is 110 today. Yes, it's that hot.

Heat index is relatively meaningless to grass. It’s much hotter than the measured air temperature or heat index in the direct sun, which grass endures all summer. This isn’t remarkably hot for the DC area. It’d remarkable this is the first 95+ spell we’ve had all year really.

It's not meaningless to the person cutting the grass. FFS one hour of work could kill you when it's this hot. Get a clue. People die in the heat all the time.

I cut the grass on Sunday, it was hot but I was not in danger of death.

I’m pretty sure OP was asking about whether it’s too hot FOR THE GRASS to be cut, not too hot for OP?

It's so rare it doesn't even register. Only old people with health issues die from warmer temperatures.

MANY MORE people die from cold weather than hot.

Heat index is meaningless garbage used to scare the softies into staying indoors and using more AC to make corporations profits.

The "news" uses words like that to scare the children into being more scared about the world and staying glued to their corporate sponsored "news" channels for ratings and increased advertising profits.

What's with this alpha dipshit call out mentality?

Lawn is small, and will take 5-10 minutes max. I was sincerely asking about what's good for the lawn. I don't love the weather, but I'll deal and am outside every day. No need to be an aggressive idiot.

To mow it regularly and not let it get overgrown. This has already been answered several times.

When it is this hot, I try to time cutting the grass with the next probable rain.

Cut it, but at the tallest setting your mower offers.

If the lawn is that small, mow whenever you want in the evening and then deep water with a sprinkler the next morning.

Small lawns don’t really matter as much because you can control so many variables easily.

Let it go this week.
