sorry for excessive confusion. perils of just needing to word-vomit the wtf out of my head. honestly no real resemblance to either of the potential dads, basically i look like a carbon copy of bio moms mom.
my assessment a decade ago was that there was a 50% chance she was wrong, but that she wouldn't have tried to introduce me to BD1 if she hadn't truly believed he was the bio dad and having met him (aka, a basically nice, decent human being) I didn't feel it worthwhile to stir the pot to prove it one way or another. we text maybe once a year or so.
but then, I didn't know until the recent texts from a strange phone number that BD1 and his fam was in close contact with BD2 all along, nor that there was some long-standing mythology about the baby that got away in BD2s family, nor that BD1 had his own doubts about the paternity.
so I guess doing a kit would allow me to drop contact with BD1 with a clear conscience if we aren't actually related. there's a lot of early death in both families so I don't think there's much to choose from there. in theory 1st cousins in one of the families would show up. bio mom would definitely be upset if she was wrong, but at least the people she wanted nothing to do with are now all dead.
