This. I read one a month, plus every New Yorker.

How do you do this?

I read pretty fast, and I have more time to dedicate to it now that my kids are older. I try to get in 50 pages a day, but it’s often more than that.

I used to read about 50 a year (pre-kids). It dropped precipitously when they were small-I struggled to read 1 a month. Nie that they’re a little older, it’s more like 2 a month, though it varies. I’m at 15.5 right now, so on pace to read 30 this year.

I’m trying to read more on my commute (metro).

I listen to 2 books a week and read a book every other week.

150 last year. The shortest was 84, charging cross road but I am reading world literature mostly right now. And one Emily Henry (Book Lovers).

This is me, more or less. One for my book group, and one or two pleasure reads per month. I do generally like an hour or two an evening for Netflix shows or movies, and go out for movies and other social and entertainment. Over time, my social media has ratcheted up which I'm considering dialing back down so I can read more again.

Me too, the most I read any year is about 40 books. I never regret the time I spend watching TV with my DH or kids. I put socialization/exercise in a very different bucket. It’s the time I spend here and not reading that I end up regretting.

I read about two books a month, but sometimes more if I really get into a novel.

If I didn't work, I would be reading 2 novels a week. I love reading.

Now that the kids are older, I got a big tome of American History by Jill Lepore. It was a good read. And since I am driving much more these days, started e-audiobooks and they make driving so much less tedious. In a month got thru Dune, Hillbilly Elegies, Dreams of my Father, The Wealth of Nations, Heart of Darkness, Middlemarch, James, We Were Liars, The Last Wolf, Molly Malloy and Death.
I really dug into Dune and the sci-fi world of giant worms.

My commute just doubled. I really need to do this.

I'm similar to you. Some people use every spare moment to read. I am fine reading 1-3 a month. I'm slow and it's ok!

They may be reading books that don't take long to read. You aren't going to read Ulysses, The Goldfinch, Demon Copperhead, and East of Eden in one month.

I read for a couple hours every night instead of watching shows/movies, etc. I also do very little internet scrolling. I work full time and have two teenagers that I run around all over the place (including travel sports).

I don't read "easy" books all the time, though I mix them in. For instance, this is what I finished in March this year.

Triangle: The Fire the Changed America by David von Drehle (non-fiction about the fire in NYC at a clothing factory)
The Great Fortune by Olivia Manning (WWII fiction written in the 1960s, this is part of a six novel series)
Wild Dark Shore by Charlotte McConaghy (contemporary eco-lit)
Sanditon, Lady Susan, and a History of England by Jane Austen (classic, juvenelia)
The Warden by Anthony Trollope (Victorian classic, reread on audio)
The Real Jane Austen by Paula Byrne (nonfiction about Jane Austen)
Money by Emile Zola (French classic from the 1890s)
Like, Literally Dude by Valerie Fridlund (nonfiction about the English language and how it adapts over time)
Dream Count by Chimamanda Ngozi Adichie (contemporary lit)

About 60 books a year. I try not to go on social media and instead read in my spare time.
