We went on a school visit and our host had cute little star and cloud pimple patches. I was stunned by her confidence and was like “sign us up for this place!”. DD brought me back down to earth by telling me how normal it is at all schools. Love it for these girls.


I have a teen who wears them and I teach 5th graders who wear them. I am also so happy how normal it is for them, and also how normal it is to talk about periods. It was such a shameful thing to talk about when I was young!

I'd be careful about starting differin or another retinoid in the summer particularly if she's outdoorsy. I know from experience as a teen it can make you very sun sensitive.

Really? You’d try a formerly Rx-only med before you’d try a topical sticker with no side effects? That’s bonkers.

My DD found that differin really accelerated her acne to the point that waiting that phase out was just too much. It’s also more expensive than pimple patches and really harsh on skin in the summer if you spend time outside.

Not sure why you’re reluctant to let her try pimple patches. You sound like my mom who kept insisting that she didn’t know where I got my acne from and it definitely wasn’t her and we should just wait it out…instead of just getting me help for it.


Lol. My parents in the 90s told me that my deep cystic painful acne was from eating doughnuts and similar sweets. And that I should clean my face with rubbing alcohol because that’s what they did in the 60s. And noxema. And later — cetaphil because their friend said it worked. Sigh. I eventually got them to take me to a dermatologist but my parents refused to let me take the one medication that would have helped me — accutane. Everything else — differin cream/gel, antibiotics etc, was useless. I am putting my kids on accutane at the first sign of cystic acne.

I’m the PP in peri and I tell everyone I can about these. I wish I’d had them as a kid.

The standard Peace Out patches are the absolute best. I’ve used them for years, and now also buy them for my teen son. They keep pimples from even getting a head on them. They’ll flatten out and disappear.

For deep pimples, the Mighty Patch with the little spikes are amazing.

If I’d had these as a teen and in the early perimenopause years I would have way fewer scars than I do.

Hero patches work well.

Kids don’t pop zits anymore.

When I grew up it was a sport - now the patches conceal and remove the urge to pop.

My son was wearing them while under the care of a derm so I asked her about them. She said they do work if there’s a white head. She said she actually uses them herself.

Differin is good for longterm prevention but for those breakthrough zits you need something to spot treat. I don't really love the patches but some do (I mostly wouldn't want to wear one in public). Mario Badesdcu drying lotion is my holy grail for this purpose but it is colored so for using at night. But it's a miracle worker.

I am back to breaking out and I wear them on my WFH days. They are awesome.

And isn’t that known about Retinol - it increases cell turnover and the purge, ie, it accelerates the acne?

As I told my kid, buying a small pack at CVS is like sticking quarters on your face.

I have bought no-brand Korean hydrocolloid patches and they work well too.
