I shed no tears for those who invite their own destruction, including those complicit in concealing Hamas' plans and in supporting their activities both before and after Oct 7.

Yes indeedy, Hamas had the right idea, and no Israeli response was justified at all. That's the "sane, moral" position? Israel should just forgive and forget, so no civilian Palestinian casualties would occur. Hamas surrendering and releasing the hostages shouldn't even be up for discussion - they bear no responsibility for anything. And who are the "disgusting monstrosities"?

As long as they stay in Israel, cultural norms will largely prevent them from having to seriously face what they've done. Even people that know it is wrong also know they can't openly say that.
I think you'll see this generation of IDF soldiers remain in Israel and contribute to the militarization of Israeli society and the dehumanization of Palestinians as a sort of coping mechanism.

In fact, IDF soldiers have said they feel like they are Nazis when they enter Gaza
