Homestead is my favorite restaurant in Northampton. I also like Essalon for breakfast

Recommend Marriott's new Towneplace Suites Hadley/Amherst pretty much midway between Amherst and Northampton. It's less expensive than the Courtyard Marriott nearby and has larger rooms. https://www.marriott.com/en-us/hotels/bdlhp-towneplace-suites-hadley-amherst/overview/

NoHo has some really great food!

Hadley is in between Amherst and Northampton - not charming but near lots of chain restaurants. But it's not like anything is that far away. Northampton is such a fun town with so much to walk to. Hotel Northampton and the Ellery are both walkable to Smith and everything in NoHo. Have a great visit - it's such a great area!

OP - no, I was just referencing it as the "5 college area," but we are mainly there to see U.Mass Amherst and see if the town area is not too rural for my suburbanite kid. We may drop by one or two schools nearby, but not for official tours.
