You don't know much about the politics of year round residents of beach towns in the middle Atlantic. MAGA all the way. They "resent" some tourists more than others.

Rehoboth is the gay beach and Virginia Beach is the black beach.

We had a terrible experience in Myrtle Beach. A white child flat out told our son he's not allowed to play with black kids. Our child responded - no problem and instantly came and share the convo with us.

We never returned.

Yes, Rehoboth is the closest thing in our area to Provincetown, although overall it still isn't all that close.

Cape May isn't Rehoboth obviously but has long had a reputation for being gay friendly:

None of these towns is all that great for African Americans. There's no reason to think that the vibe in either Rehoboth or Dewey for African Americans would be significantly different than Cape May.

That's why I asked about OP's Cape May experience. I was asking from an AA perspective, not a gay one, because my sense is that it was the experience as an AA that OP was referring to.

In general, Rehoboth is the gay beach and Dewey is the drunk beach. Bethany is the "family" beach. Most of the summer employees in Rehoboth come from Eastern European countries, so I'd look into how racist they tend to be.

There's not much that's fun to do beyond going to the beach, hanging out, eating somewhere, or visiting bars. They could bike somewhere there are trails, take walks in the big park where Biden used to bike, or visit the Rehoboth bookstore. There is also a movie theatre but they can already stream in their condo or hotel room.

Many of the local businesses in Rehoboth are owned by gay men. If a gay person is not comfortable in Rehoboth they probably need to go to Key West.

Rehoboth is historically gay. It’s probably the gayest beach between Key West and Provincetown.

Sussex County Delaware has a very large African-American population. You will see African-Americans working in Rehobeth and also enjoying leisure time on the boardwalk and in the restaurants.

That said there is a much larger population of African-Americans at the Ocean City Boardwalk. I think Ocean City gets a lot of African-Americans vacationing from Baltimore City.

PP are you a straight person making that assessment? Additionally I don’t know how you can compare Rehoboth and Dewey… Completely different experiences for LGBTQ/POC.
