A lot of things have to line up to host something- parents who will show up, kids who can behave, teachers who think it's a good idea, a space that's available and can accommodate, someone wiling to plan something worthy of taking everyone's time. I’m not. Our family really enjoyed promotion celebrations. Marking milestones is nice for parents and the kids are about to go from being the oldest at their current school to the youngest at a different, bigger school, with increased expectations, so a celebration is a nice part of that transition.
