Not true. Board Certified Plastic Surgeons are trained to perform both body and face procedures.
Some ( especially the younger ones with not too much experience ) may not be comfortable doing one or the other but a plastic surgeon worth their salt will know how to do both well.
Also - many ENTs are not trained in cosmetic procedures.

That will be the likes of Dr. Jacono, who charges in the range of $250,000.
Too much hype about Dr. Jacono. Yes he did some great facelifts but he is also rumored to have a high complication rate.
$250K for a facelift is in the vicinity of what he charges apparently and it's crazy.
You can get an equally great result from a deep plane facelift done by someone in the DMV like Drs. Rad, Bitar or Cohen who charge significantly less.
(I am a former operating room nurse that worked with a few plastic surgeons)
Np. Any tips or things we should look out for? What do you think is the most important thing when choosing a surgeon?
A few tips to choose the right surgeon:
- Look for a "Board Certified Plastic Surgeon " who is also a member of the American Society of Aesthetic Plastic Surgery. If seeking Facial work only, you can see someone who is certified by the American Board of Facial Plastic & Reconstructive Surgery . Make sure that whoever you choose does mostly cosmetic work: You do not want an ENT who is mostly doing sinus surgery to do your facelift or a plastic surgeon who mostly does hand surgery doing your breast augmentation. Please be ware of similar sounding board certifications or societies such as "the American Society of Cosmetic Surgery" who any doctor who took some weekend class in injecting Botox can join.
- Look at the before and after photos on their website.
- A few other considerations:
Who provides anesthesia for the surgery? Is it an anesthesiologist or a nurse anesthetist ? Do they operate in their own surgery center? This is an advantage as the surgeon usually would have the same team with them and thus more consistency/ better outcomes for you. What is the recovery phase after surgery like? How many times will your surgeon see you after your procedure? Some will only see you for 2 months after the surgery, some will keep seeing you until a year after to make sure your healing is going on as planned.
- How frequently does the surgeon perform the procedure you are interested in? Also big plus if they are someone who is invited to conferences to lecture about that procedure to other surgeons.
-Ask if they can give you names of patients who have had that procedure that you can reach out to and ask about how their experience was like (some surgeons will provide this)
That's a good starting point. Best of luck finding the right plastic surgeon for you.

OP I had a lower face and neck lift with Dr olding because of sagging due to weight loss and aging. It looks phenomenal and completely natural. He is amazing and I can’t speak highly enough about him. If you want to look natural, he is the dr to see. My recovery was also very easy from the lower face and neck lift.
I also had a TT and lift with implants with him fall of last year and also have phenomenal results. Looks completely natural.
He’s the chief of plastic surgery at GW. His office staff is also fantastic.

My face and neck aren’t terrible, but the skin definitely isn’t tight anymore. I don’t really know which procedure(s) I need (deep plane, mini, etc.), so I’d like to go to some consults to find out. What plastic surgeons should I meet with for this? I want to look natural. I’m in the Bethesda/Chevy Chase area for location.
How much weight did you lose? Was it just from pregnancies or other weight gain too?

I thought the recovery would be the same for a deep plane or a tummy tuck? Can anyone advise? I’d like to get both too. Actually I was thinking the tummy tuck first because I don’t want to lose any more weight from the face neck once I get the lift done.
Recovery for a facelift and tummy tuck are not the same. After a tummy tuck it is quite some time before you can lift anything which can be difficult if you have small children (for example). You also should not get a tummy tuck until you have lost all the weight you plan to lose and maintain it for 6 months or a year.
It sounds like you need to do a lot more research on the procedures you are considering.
