It is a good name. Agree it is considered more commonly a Jewish name.

I am Jewish and know more than one Talia so the name is totally fine to me but I would assume your family is Jewish. Naming a non Jewish kid that is to me like naming a non-Irish kid Siobhan - you can do that but it’s a little odd.

I work at a preschool and there is a little girl named Talia. It is a cute name and not very common yet in this age bracket, imho. Go for it. (FWIW, I am not Jewish nor is this a Jewish preschool.)

All the people I've met with the name Talia were conservative or orthodox Jews. It's not a nickname for Natalia, neither is it a Greek name.

Think this entirely depends on your demographics of where you socialize! If your kid will be at jewish preschool, camping etc then they will know many Talias- if they hang out with the people in this thread then perhaps not

Love it... but these comments are mostly from non jews I can tell. I know at least 5 talias and none are short for Natalia.

This. At least, for Jews. Not sure if non-Jews would be familiar with it and therefore make the same assumption.

I prefer spelling it Thalia, though, as it appears in Greek mythology. She was Zeus' daughter, and one of the Three Graces.

Thalia is not the same name.

I love it so much but we aren't Jewish so we didn't use it

I don't like it, but that doesn't mean it's a bad name, just not to my taste. If you like it you should go for it. I recognize that it is a dignified sounding name.
