OP. Clarifying some things: we had dinner at a picnic table on the far end of the pool deck, on the side perpendicular to we hear our chaises were. The towel was on a railing just behind our clearly occupied chaises. It’s the culture at our pool to hang your towel to try along that railing- it’s not a spot where it would be considered abandoned or lost.

I made this mistake once - DC came home after a sleepover without a pair of pants and we thought one of the friend’s had taken them. They turned up about two weeks later, shoved under the bathroom sink for some bizarre reason. I felt like an a^*. This taught me not to be so quick to jump to conclusions - maybe it was misplaced and will turn up again shortly. Hope you find it.

It still might show up. I get it. We like our stuff and feel violated when someone takes our stuff or we lose it. Keep checking lost and found. Otherwise, just buy another cute towel for yourself with the desired weight that you like. 👍 That towel wouldn’t last forever anyway. Shake it off. Learn from this moment. (I.e. don’t place your towel on a railing and get dinner, just pack your wet towel next time). Live and learn. But, I do, understand why it would upset you. Follow the words of Elsa: ‘Let it GO——!’
